Listening to Show while posting these photos. Truth is, the unanimous experience did not rush in until later it was all complete and I had to keep listening to his songs in my car. Suffice to say, I even hold the Usher hang over.
Audiences were not allowed to make "big cameras", but were allowed to use small hand cameras, and phones, obviously. No flash allowed.
So this is why my photos are so blurry. But it`s okay_ it`s actually hard to hold photos when you didn`t need to lose a bit during the concert.
Anyway, the next are select photos from the concert:
Usher appeared from the opposition of the stage, was carried by this mobile, hanging, mini-stage:
From where I`m seated, I get a full opinion of the big screen_
_and a full opinion of the stage. It was exactly right so I could see all the dance moves.
Just so you know, there`s a lot of abs-showing, and shirt ripping and stripping off - yes, even during Akon`s opening act.
He went riding the mobile mini-stage again for "Fire" and so back to the point for a good camera pose:
"O M G" - was stressful to stop the acronym on the test but it`s too quick each time.
After "O M G" - more fireworks for the finale.
I order the concert 8 out of 10. Don`t get me wrong, Usher is a real good performer, hands down - not to mention SEXY. But I actually expected something more than just hip-hop. I thought he would split his setlist such that the hip-hop/dance and r&b/slow are separate - where he and his backup`s would wear street or clubbing clothes for the hip-hop/dance, and then him wearing a surface and tie, do a few solo`s to serenade us for the r&b/slow portion. This was not the case. It felt like he catered more to the younger herd than the crowd of his own age.
Regardless, he was still electrifying, and his setlist was not disappointing, in that he sang his hits and the ones that he couldn`t perform in full (because of time restrictions, I assume), he put into medley.
He interacted with his audience. He pulled a female audience (I suppose she must`ve won some contest prior to the concert) whom he serenaded in the stage. Lucky b!atch. He talked some, used the fact that Canucks won the western conference the dark before. There was a head when he took out a Canucks prop and all of us were yelling "Go Canucks Go!" He too took a second to thank all of us. I thought he`s a very grateful artist. His statements seem sincere and fairly consistent with what he has in his program souvenirs.
He danced a lot! The party starter was "Yeah!". We saw all his signature choreo`s - on "Yeah!", "U Don`t Have To Call", "Caught Up", "Love In This Club" (this was my favourite) and "DJ Got Us Fallin` in Love".
He too paid tribute to Michael Jackson. He did not talk any of MJ`s, but he danced through a pastiche of MJ`s dance hits - including "Don`t Stop Till You Get Enough", "Rock With You" and "Billie Jean".
And of course, he sang my favourite Usher song of all time: "Burn" Hearing him sing this live, and beholding him dance to "Love In This Club" are the chief reasons I wanted to go to this concert. I suppose I got my money`s worth
